Caribbean Heritage Festival to Celebrate Culture
Tampa, FL, May 25, 2011 – If jerk chicken and steel drums has you dreaming of the islands, you won’t have to go too far to experience it first hand! The Caribbean-American National Development Organization (CANDO), in partnership with the University Area Community Development Corp. (UACDC) present the Tampa Bay Caribbean Heritage Month Festival, Sunday June 19th, 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. at the University Area Community Center, 14013 North 22nd Street in Tampa.

Free Teen Bash
Tampa, FL, May 9, 2011 – Teens ages 13-17 are invited to a free Teen Bash on Saturday, May 21st, from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m., at the University Area Community Center, 14103 N. 22nd Street, Tampa, FL 33613. A parent information session starts at 12:30 p.m. at the Center. There will be performances by Dynasty, TRUE and more, as well as free food, prize giveaways, games and artist demonstrations. MORE
Students Visit Food Pantry
May, 13, 2011 – Tampa, FL -- Sixteen students from Tampa Palms Elementary toured the University Community Resource Center today to see just where all those cans they collect go. During their visit, they saw the food pantry and helped pack a few bags for the homeless. MORE
Local Youth Program Receives Statewide Community Innovation Award
Tampa, FL, April 13, 2011 – Last week, the Prodigy program, with locations in seven Florida counties, took nine of its Prodigy youth to Tallahassee to receive the 2011 Children’s Week Community Innovation Award, as part of Children’s Week at the State Capitol. Prodigy, a project of the University Area Community Development Corporation (UACDC) and in partnership with the University of South Florida School of Social Work, and BAYS Youth Services, was among only four organizations statewide to receive this award, which was judged by the United Way of Florida.
